Acro
Other classes See our timetableA beautiful combination of dance and acrobatics for pupils who already attend another weekly dance class at LBSD from Reception age.
Acro develops flexibility, strength, balance, coordination and confidence while teaching children how to blend acrobatic movements seamlessly into dance.
We follow the progressive Acrobatic Arts programme, with pupils working at the level that is right for their individual strength and experience. Beginners are very welcome and every skill is introduced through safe, carefully structured progressions.
What happens in class?
Classes include conditioning, flexibility, balancing, limbering and tumbling. Dancers work towards skills such as bridges, handstands, cartwheels and more advanced acrobatic movements as they become ready.
Our focus is always on correct technique and safe progression rather than rushing to achieve tricks. Acro pupils must also attend another weekly dance class at Louise Benson School of Dance, as strong dance technique is an important part of becoming a confident acro dancer.
Acrobatic Arts assessments are offered when pupils have reached the appropriate standard, but they are not compulsory.
