Our ISTD Imperial Classical Ballet classes help dancers develop posture, coordination, musicality, strength and confidence in a warm and encouraging environment.
Children progress through carefully structured classes at a pace that is right for them. Alongside learning strong classical technique, they develop artistry, self-discipline and a genuine love of dance.
From Pre-Primary through to Grade 1, ballet and tap are combined within the same class. Exploring both styles helps our younger dancers develop their rhythm and musicality while enjoying another exciting dance genre.
What happens in class?
Dancers learn ballet technique through barre work, centre practice, travelling steps and performance exercises. Classes are carefully matched to each age and stage, allowing pupils to build secure foundations before progressing through the grades.
ISTD examinations are offered when pupils have reached the appropriate standard, but they are not compulsory. From Grade 4, pupils following the examination pathway attend two ballet classes each week to support their progress and preparation.
As dancers progress, Pre-Pointe and Pointe training is offered by invitation to pupils following the ballet examination pathway, once they have developed the required strength, technique and maturity.
